If you're entertaining at home this summer, be sure to include some of the festive pieces from my Martha Stewart Collection found exclusively at Macy’s.
This year, because of social distancing guidelines, we're all spending a little more time at home. My collection includes everything you need for enjoying those family barbecues, picnics, and poolside gatherings right in your own backyard. Many items are inspired by our nation's stars and stripes - just perfect for celebrating Independence Day. My Americana Collection includes red, white, and blue star-shaped chip bowls, star-printed serving platters, and striped glasses. Use my colorful printed beach towels while relaxing by the pool or at the beach, and spread out my Buffalo Plaid Yarn Dye Quilt for those late afternoon naps - we've designed so many wonderful products for the season.
Recently, our own EVP Design Director, Kevin Sharkey, took photos of some of our pieces at my Bedford, New York farm - enjoy them. And please visit the Macy's web site for more information - just click on the highlighted link.
This time of year, I love dining outdoors on my terrace overlooking the paddocks and the lush landscape. Here, we set up four place settings using my Americana appetizer plates in durable and colorful melamine.
Here’s another photo. We folded my Americana Kitchen Towels in half to make these matching placemats.
The patriotic plates are great for use outdoors and measure approximately six inches in diameter.
The plates come in red stripes and these blue stripes.
Add star power to individual entrées or desserts with this colorful trio of Americana stoneware cocottes from my Collection. Each one has a matching lid.
These dishes measure 5.5 inches by 5.3 inches by 3.4 inches tall. And, each cocotte holds about eight-ounces. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe.
If you want a whimsical fruit theme for your next summer family dinner, use these So-Cal Melamine Figural Appetizer Plates from Martha Stewart Collection. These tropical themed dishes are great for sides or dips.
Under these festive glasses is my sturdy melamine platter decorated with a star motif and bold red-striped border. You can use it to serve up cool drinks, hot dogs, burgers, and even ribs in patriotic style.
My acrylic Tom Collins glasses and stirrer sticks are also made exclusively for Macy’s.
My beach towels are great poolside or beachside. They feature a soothing velour finish in a variety of colors. This is my cabana stripe beach towel with green trim.
All my beach towels are made from soft Turkish cotton. Plus, they’re big – 38 inches by 68 inches.
This is my multi-stripe beach towel draped over the corner of one of my chaise lounges by the pool.
Here is my Martha Stewart Collection’s set of four Americana stemless wine glasses, each decorated with a patriotic stars and stripes motif. Each glass holds about 14.5 ounces – perfect for wine, or any beverage on a warm summer’s day.
Spread this quilt out for a picnic, or on your bed for a fresh new look. This Buffalo Plaid Yarn Dye quilt features a buffalo plaid pattern and the soft touch of cotton and measures 68 inches by 86 inches.
Meanwhile, the gardens at my farm are looking so lush and green this week. The barberry and boxwood on my upper terrace parterre look so inviting. In the middle of the stone pathway is one of two large sugar kettles I use as fire pits. Sugar kettles were used on 19th century Louisiana plantations for the production of sugar. Sugar cane was placed in the large, spherical vessels and cooked down to make syrup. Because they could withstand such high heat, they were also used for cooking.
The views of the paddocks from my terrace parterre are gorgeous. Looking out is my stable on the left and my chicken coops straight ahead in the distance. The big stone step in front of the fence is a mounting block used for getting on and off my horses.
The sedum on my stone wall was planted in 2012 – it has grown so well. The mixed red and chartreuse colors are so vibrant this time of year.
This is one of two fountains I installed on my lower terrace parterre outside my Winter House kitchen. The fountains are hand-casted antique fountains I purchased many years ago. Unfortunately, I just don’t recall where I got them, but if you recognize them, please let me know.
The clematis pergola is blooming with lots of gorgeous purple, lavender, and pink clematis flowers. I will share more about them in my next blog.
And here is a photo of my Winter House and carport from the great Boxwood Allee. Even under cloud clover, the landscape looks beautiful. During this time, while we’re still keeping our distance when spending time outdoors, I hope you are able to enjoy the nature that surrounds you.
