Dining At Abe's Kitchen Counter At En Japanese Brasserie
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in New York City is En Japanese Brasserie, owned by my friends, Reika and Jesse Alexander. Chef Abe Hiroki works his magic in the kitchen and I have enjoyed so many fabulous meals there. On the last Tuesday of every month, En features something called “8 Guests, the Counter and Chef Abe Hiroki”. At 6PM and 9PM, eight diners sit down to a remarkable feast. Chef Abe works with his favorite fish mongers, foragers, and farmers, using limited quantity and peak seasonal ingredients and guides his guests through a multicourse Japanese tasting menu. I happily sat down at Abe's kitchen counter this past Tuesday and took photos throughout the meal. It was so amazingly good and perhaps I'll go again next month.
