Meet Beatrice Mwasi, My Mentee From Kenya
The past month was a special one at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. We took part in Vital Voices mentoring program. The FORTUNE/U.S. State Department Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership, pairs international emerging businesswomen from countries all over the world with top American female executives – FORTUNE’S Most Powerful Women – who serve as mentors. Over the course of a month-long program, the mentees are engaged in trainings and networking events designed to equip them with the skills to build better businesses, and the inspiration to pay it forward and accelerate positive change in their home communities.
Our mentee was the lovely Beatrice Mwasi, the Founder and Director at Sanabora Design House Limited, based in Nairobi, Kenya, a company that manufactures leather bags and other fashion accessories. According to Beatrice, Sanabora is quickly becoming a benchmark for Sustainable, Distinctive and Contemporary-African Leather Bags with an Inimitable Quality in East Africa. Beatrice, who loves to inspire and teach about business, applied to this mentor program, along with many others in Kenya. After a lengthy process, she was one of two who qualified and was ecstatic when she learned she would be a mentee at MSLO. And Beatrice, we were ecstatic to have you!
