Martha & Marley Spoon, our time-saving meal-kit delivery service now offers delicious smoothies!
Through March, along with each week’s menu, you can choose between one health-focused and one family-friendly smoothie option. All the dry ingredients are sent to make two to four servings of each. And, the smoothies can be ordered within the regular weekly menu - it’s that easy. After a busy day at work, it’s nice to know one can go home and prepare a beautiful and healthy dinner plus a refreshing and nutritious smoothie without the added stress of shopping. We tested four different smoothie flavors at my farm earlier this week - Cocoa-Coco Loco, Heart-Healthy Raspberry, Green Kiwi-Lime and Mango Magic. Each smoothie took 20-minutes or less to make - they were a big hit. I am so excited about our new Martha & Marley Spoon smoothie selections. They’re great additions to our already robust variety of meal kits. Plus, they’re easy to make and so full of fresh and flavorful ingredients.
We test a lot of our Martha & Marley Spoon recipes at my farm. We were excited to try four different smoothie options – These are all the ingredients for our Mango Magic Smoothie and our Green Kiwi-Lime Smoothie. It all arrives in a bag at the door just like our meal-kit deliveries – complete with fresh pre-portioned ingredients.
The recipes are easy-to-follow and include just three main steps. We also add the list of ingredients, the tools needed, and the nutrition facts label for each drink on the recipe card.
For the Mango Magic Smoothie, the ingredients include a mango, two carrots, an orange, ginger, a pinch of salt, ice and a liquid of your choice. Here, Shqipe peels the mango.
And then cuts it into one-inch pieces.
Next, she scrubs and cuts the carrots into one-inch pieces.
And cuts the peel and white pith off the orange and cuts it into two-inch pieces.
The smoothie calls for one teaspoon of ginger. Ginger not only adds delicious flavor to foods and smoothies, but it’s also full of nutrients, such as vitamins B3, B6, and C, iron, and potassium.
The ingredients are placed into the blender along with a pinch of salt and the liquid of choice. We used fruit juice, but it also goes well with coconut water.
The ingredients are blended together.
And finally, two cups of ice are added and then blended again on high until smooth.
This smoothie has such a rich orange color.
The Kiwi-Lime Smoothie starts with kale. Shqipe strips the kale from the stems.
And then coarsely chops three cups of the leaves – we provide a little extra to be used later. I love kale and always grow it in my gardens. One cup of raw kale has nearly three grams of protein, 2.5 grams of fiber, vitamins A, C, and K, folate, and alpha-linolenic acid.
Shqipe removes the peel from the kiwi. Kiwi is a Kiwifruit or Chinese gooseberry – the edible berry of several species of woody vines in the genus Actinidia. The most common cultivar group of kiwifruit is oval, about the size of a large hen’s egg.
Once peeled, it is cut into small two-inch pieces.
We always send the freshest ingredients possible. Here, Shqipe cuts the cucumber into smaller chunk pieces.
And then quarters, cores and cuts the apple.
Once everything is cut, Shqipe transfers the kale, kiwi, and apple into the blender.
Then she adds the cucumber pieces and two teaspoons lime juice.
And finally, the honey and liquid of choice are added. We suggest coconut water, which is full of electrolytes and nutrients.
It is blended along with two cups of ice.
And then poured into the glass.
Smoothies can make a great addition to a healthy diet, especially for those who are looking to eat more fruits and vegetables. Our smoothies are full of good, fresh ingredients.
As with all our meal kits, everything for the smoothie arrives well-packaged and labeled, so there’s absolutely no confusion in the kitchen.
Each smoothie comes with a large recipe card that contains all the instructions and multiple photographs.
The next smoothie we made is the Cocoa-Coco Loco Smoothie. Here is Shqipe pitting the dates. Dates are not only tasty but also a good source of antioxidants.
Shqipe adds the dates in the blender along with the oats and some hot water.
Next, she prepares the pear – she cuts, cores and divides it into large pieces.
The almonds are also dropped into the blender. Almonds are a great way to add healthy fats, fiber, protein, magnesium and vitamin E to a meal. Almonds help to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels and reduce blood pressure. They can also reduce hunger and promote weight loss.
Shqipe then adds the coconut milk powder, pears, cocoa powder, and liquid of choice to the blender.
For this smoothie, our liquid was almond milk.
The last step for our Cocoa-Coco Loco Smoothie is to blend it on high with ice until it is smooth.
This was a big favorite. Everyone in your family will love the large variety of smoothie options.
The last smoothie we tested at the farm was our Heart-Healthy Raspberry with oats, raspberry powder, apples, honey, and almond milk. And all the ingredients are used, so nothing gets wasted in the preparation process.
Again, the oats are added to the blender with a bit of hot water along with the raspberry powder.
As the oats cook and expand, Shqipe cuts the apples into quarters and removes the core and seeds.
Everything is added to the blender.
And then mixed on high with ice until smooth.
Shqipe pours the smoothie into a glass – it’s so thick and creamy.
All our smoothies were a big hit at the farm – tasty, refreshing and full of vitamins and minerals.
Try all our smoothie options at Martha & Marley Spoon – I know you and your family will love every single one.
