A Holiday Facebook LIVE from De Gustibus Cooking School at Macy's
If you're looking for something fun to make your family and friends this holiday season, why not make some pretty wreath cookies or pastel-colored sugar cookies - both make lovely gifts for anyone on your list.
I love this book – it makes all those favorite go-to cookies even better. “Cookie Perfection” introduces new flavors, textures, and techniques, and incorporates equipment that isn’t traditionally used for making cookies. We tried all sorts of new toppings, tested unusual flavor combinations, and made sure every single cookie was fun to make and above all – absolutely delicious.
Here is the other holiday style – a 6-quart Pinecone Enamel Cast Iron pot with pinecones and greenery. My cookware is compatible with gas, electric, glass and induction cooktops.
Salvatore Rizzo is the owner and director of De Gustibus Cooking School at Macy’s Herald Square. He thanked everyone for coming and gave me a warm introduction to the demo stage.
These decorated Christmas tree cookies are on my Royal Blush 3-Tier Server from Macy’s. Use multiple servers to make a beautiful presentation of all your baked treats.
I hope you caught the broadcast. I showed everyone the cover of our December issue of “Living” – it was shot inside the Woodland Cottage at my Bedford, New York farm – I hope you have a copy. It’s on newsstands right now.
I started the event with a cocktail – a Pink Grapefruit-White Cranberry Sparkling Punch made with champagne, vodka, and Cointreau. Everyone was served a glass and loved it.
I also showed our influencers how to make these fun Pastel Butter Cookies from “Cookie Perfection” – so easy and a great cookie recipe to do with the kids.
There were large monitors above the counter, so everyone could see exactly what I was doing.
The cameras show the process from above. Here are some of the wreath cookies already made and waiting to be decorated.
These cookies are coated with a lemon glaze and then topped with nuts, dragees, and candied ginger.
I answered many questions from those in the audience and those who followed on Facebook and Instagram.
Everyone was encouraged to post photos on their personal social media platforms.
Pamela Masin and Ali Brown from @purewow were also in attendance.
HayleyPaige from @misshayleypaige sifts the confectioner’s sugar for her Butter Pastel Cookies.
Samantha Roberts and Caroline Alkire from HGTV stopped for this cute snapshot.
Each guest decorated their own cookies to take home – I went around the table to see how they were doing and offer tips. See my Facebook LIVE for the perfect way to glaze these cookies.
And here is my Bake Trivet for all those delicious cookies made with my Cookie Cutters. If you missed any of the show, click on the highlighted links above to watch. Happy baking!
