Attending a Luncheon With the First Lady of Malaysia
I was recently invited to attend a luncheon held at the Diplomat Ballroom in the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel on the occasion of the visit of the Honorable First Lady and Wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datin Paduka Seri Rosmah Monsor. This luncheon was one event of the 56th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). CSW, part of the United Nations, is the principle global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. Every year, representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to discuss progress being made around the globe.
You may recall my blogs from June of 2010, when I travelled to Malaysia with my niece, Sophie Herbert and my friend, Memrie Lewis. Since that journey, we have stayed in contact with our Malaysian friends and enjoy seeing them when they are in New York City. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the luncheon, but Sophie did and took photographs for my blog. Thank you, Mary Scully, for the kind invitation!
