Major Maintenance of my Stable
Betsy Perreten, my stable manager, and her crew, Gelbu and Dolma, do a very fine job of caring for the horses and donkeys and also, the stable itself. However, the years have taken their toll and it was time to do some major maintenance on the stable interior. Betsy is a serious weather watcher and she chose a nice dry stretch to get this job done, as the animals would be spending a great deal of time outdoors. The interior was given a complete scrubbing. The wooden stalls were sanded down and are in the process of being finished with a special penetrating oil. The cement floor will also be sealed with a stone sealer. Betsy estimates that the horses and donkeys can return to their home on Sunday, once all the surfaces have a chance to dry and harden off.
