There are just four days left until Christmas - are you done with all your holiday decorating?
If you’re decorating your home this weekend, I hope you’re using some of the wonderful products from my collection of holiday decor available exclusively at The Home Depot. My collection includes beautiful pre-lit trees, garlands, topiaries and swags. To see all these great offerings, just click on the highlighted link. I’ve also done quite a bit of decorating here at the farm. I just love how my home looks during the Christmas season - adorned with lights and holiday greenery inside and out.
Here are some of the outdoor decorations I’ve put up this year - enjoy.
I hang shooting stars on the outside of several buildings every year here at the farm.
After checking that all the lights work on the star, Fernando is carefully lifted on the Hi-Lo to position this star above the doors of my Equipment Barn.
Fernando is an expert at this task – he hangs the stars every year. Once the star is placed, Fernando separates the taillights, so they swoop properly and are all equally spaced across the front of the building.
Here is one above the Hay Barn. Our shooting stars are hung securely using screw eyes. The electrical cord is then slipped through the vent and connected to an outlet inside.
It looks perfect. If you use extension cords that are visible on the outside, try to use supplies that match the exterior of the building. And be sure any electrical supplies are safe to use both inside and out.
Here’s Fernando on the ladder with another shooting star for the outside of my blog studio. This star will be hung just under the roof line.
Another star is placed above this window on my gym building. Below are the doors to my wrapping room – we hung a woodland wreath on each of the doors.
And then one on each door of the gym garage.
This gym garage is currently being used for storage, so the sliding doors are not opened too often. When hanging outdoor wreaths on windows and doors, make sure those openings can still be opened and closed properly if needed.
Just a few feet away on the other end of this building – a trio of my pre-lit Christmas trees from The Home Depot. We used these trees for a recent shoot here at the farm, and then I decided they would look spectacular in this area, so guests see them when they visit.
Two wreaths hang at the bottom of the stairs to my Winter House. These wreaths are just resting on the newel posts. Outdoor decorating can be so easy.
Another shooting star is hung above the barn doors to my stable. This star is already lit, but wait – it will look even better as the hours progress.
I always hang a star on the side of the stable facing the Winter House, so I can see it from my bedroom window. It is so pretty at night.
Here is my stable crew heading out for a ride – my horses are well exercised every single day.
And look, once night falls, the stars light up the farm. This one is above my kitchen and entrance to my basement.
And here is the star on my blog studio.
This shooting star above my Equipment Barn. This looks so pretty under the finials on the roof.
Here’s the shooting star above the Hay Barn.
And here’s the one over the stable doors – this one can be seen from the Boxwood Allee.
And here’s the star on the Gym building. Are you busy decorating this weekend? Let me know what your favorite outdoor decorations are in the comments below. Do you use a lot of lights and decorative objects, or do you keep it more simple. I love hearing how others decorate for the holidays.
The more lights, the better – these trees are so beautiful. Happy holidays to all of you.
