A Visit to The Martha Stewart Garden for Living
You may recall a blog from last summer about a volunteer day at The Martha Stewart Garden for Living. This garden, located at Madison Avenue and 99th Street in Manhattan, is across the street from the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai Medical Center. In 2007, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Foundation funded the development of this garden on a trash-covered lot at the George Washington Carver Residences. Designed by our team of garden editors, this now serene space features lovely perennials, annuals, shrubs, and trees and is maintained by MSLO volunteers and George Washington Carver residents. This year, Ball Horticultural Company generously donated the following: Vinca Titan Apricot, Vinca Titan Burgundy, Petunia Pink Lemonade and Lantana Lucky Lemon Glow flowers. They also donated Talinum Limon, Coleus Electric Lime, Coleus Wasabi, Dichondra Emerald Falls and Plectranthus Nicoletta foliage. We are very proud of this garden as it greatly improves the neighborhood and offers a peaceful refuge for patients at the Center for Living, as well as the residents of George Washington Carver.
