Yesterday, I showed you photos of the snowstorm at my home in Bedford, New York. Today, I am happy to say that Cheryl DuLong, who works at Skylands, my home in Maine, has contributed her excellent photos taken of the snowstorm when it reached that area. This snowfall was unusual because it really coated the flora for a very long time. Usually, in Maine, a snowfall is followed by high winds or rain, which unsettles the snow. This time, however, the countryside was a magical winter scene for a much longer period of time. You may recall seeing previous postings of Cheryl’s wonderful photos taken in Mount Desert Island. I, particularly, love when she sends me her pictures and it gives me great pleasure to share them with you.
A view from Skylands terrace, looking towards the ocean
Remember my blog about the Skylands laundry room? This is the view outside the laundry room windows.
The trees were burdened with a heavy winter coat.
The terrace at Skylands – how beautiful!
This photo was taken through a leaded glass window pane in the dining room.
Everything looks so soft and pure.
The snowy terrace with a glimpse of the ocean beyond
Seal Harbor below looks very different in summer when it’s filled with boats.
It seemed as thought every little twig was coated with snow.
Another view of the harbor
You wouldn’t know it, but this is my circular driveway in front of Skylands.
The following photos were taken earlier in the winter. This is a lovely reflection at Little Harbor Brook.
The sunsets at Skylands are magnificent!
Cotton candy clouds
Cheryl says that this is her first sunset and raging surf shots taken on the Ocean Drive.
It was simply breathtaking!
A snow-edged jigsaw puzzle out on the terrace.
And what can this be?
Jack Frost on the leaded glass in the parlor!
This was a sunset to remember. If you look closely, you can see a couple of really brave people standing next to the trees in the top right.
Cheryl was sorry to see the light fade, as it was a stunning sight!
Looking through the kitchen windows – what a great reflection on the dining room storm windows!
A winter sunset in Northeast Harbor – no two are alike.
The sunrise on the Cooksey – what an amazing way to start the day!
Beginning this way, you just know the day has to go right.
Another beautiful sunset at Skylands.
The following morning, the trees were still iced with snow.
Looking at the tree trunks, you can tell which direction the snow was driven.
This impressive coating of snow was soon gone when the rain started to fall.
