If you're looking for something fun to make your family and friends this holiday season, why not make some crunchy nut brittle or a batch of caramel corn with peanuts - both make lovely gifts for anyone on your list.
If you caught my Facebook LIVE this week, you know just how easy these treats are to make and package. I welcomed about 25-lifestyle and food bloggers to watch the broadcast at our New York City studio. I had so much fun talking about my favorite holiday sweets, sharing tips and ideas, and answering questions. This weekend is the perfect time to start baking for those holiday gatherings, so if you missed my Facebook LIVE special, you can still watch - just click on this highlighted link. Enjoy these photos.
Friends from Domino Sugar also joined us for our holiday Facebook LIVE event. Here I am with the Domino Sugar team – Deb Abramowicz, Nancy Barbee, Pam Abbazia, Meghan Gerrity, Jennifer Schiavello, and Lisa Vetrone.
Nancy Barbee, who has been coordinating all the Domino Sugar support for my “Martha Bakes” television show on PBS, joined me on set for the broadcast.
I have been using Domino Sugar since I was a child. I want to thank Domino for being a steadfast sponsor and supporter of our Facebook LIVE broadcasts and my television show, “Martha Bakes”. Domino is used on the east coast, while their C&H brand sugar is used on the west coast. https://www.chsugar.com https://www.dominosugar.com
I showed everyone how to make our delicious caramel corn with peanuts. This recipe makes 15-cups of caramel corn in about a half hour – not long at all. https://www.marthastewart.com/975128/caramel-corn-peanuts
We also served my classic eggnog. The recipe is on our web site. It was a big hit at the event. https://www.marthastewart.com/355404/marthas-classic-eggnog
Here’s Nancy putting the caramel corn and nuts onto stainless steel baking sheets. The caramel corn then goes into a 250-degree oven for about 15-minutes until crispy.
After it is removed from the oven, be sure to let it cool completely.
Look at all the mouthwatering kernels and sweet nuts.
The corn can be scooped into these bags made specifically for food items. It makes such a lovely holiday gift.
For my peanut brittle, of course we used Domino’s pure cane sugar. The recipe for our nut brittle is on the web site at https://www.marthastewart.com/344574/nut-brittle
After chopping up the nut brittle, Nancy and I stopped for a quick photo. Nancy is retiring early in the New Year – we all wish her the very best.
I answered a lot of questions – both from our Facebook LIVE followers and from our blogger audience. I also shared some very good tips, such as how to keep molasses from sticking to a bowl – be sure to watch this show to get the answer.
Here are our wrapped treats. Using pretty ribbons and hand made gift tags make these gifts even more special.
I wrapped the nut brittle and a new stainless steel tray with cellophane and a mini hammer, so its recipient can use it to break the brittle once it is received.
I wrapped the caramel corn in this brown treat bag available at NashvilleWraps.com and added a decorative tag.
Gift tags can be hand-made or store bought at Michaels. Make it even more festive by adding a couple of jingle bells to the packaging. http://www.michaels.com/
And always hand write your gift tags to add that personal touch.
Thank you, Domino Sugar, for all your support all these years. Go to Domino Sugar’s web site for more baking tips and information on their products. https://www.dominosugar.com
