As many of you know, my calendar keeps me very busy and on the go - nearly every week is filled with important meetings, media events and business travel. This week, I am shooting another season of "Martha Bakes" for PBS - you're going to love all my new recipes and tips. And, over the last couple of weeks, I have made several appearances in New York City.
Not long ago, I appeared at Adweek's Elevate: Publishing Summit, an event that gathers together key media industry stakeholders to discuss business, and share insights. I also appeared on "Know Your Value" with Mika Brzezinski, an all-day conference focused on developing an "empowered community" for women. I enjoyed an evening at the "Legends" dinner hosted by Vanity Fair and John Hardy to honor actress, Julianne Moore. On another night, I appeared at a lovely event honoring designer, Karl Lagerfeld. And, I presented a wonderful award at The Fashion Group International's annual "Night of the Stars" - it's been very busy, but also lots of fun.
Here are some photos - enjoy.
I was very honored to attend The Fashion Group International’s annual “Night of Stars” Awards. It was held at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street. I sat with QVC CEO, Mike George, at the QVC table.
Here are entrepreneurs and fragrance experts, Harry and Laura Slatkin.
To start the awards presentation, Margaret Hayes, President of The Fashion Group International, Inc. welcomed all the guests to the event.
This is Marylou Luther, creative director of The Fashion Group International and 60-year member. She was presented with the Legend Award.
Here I am as I presented the Multi-Media Retail Leadership Award to QVC CEO and President, Mike George. I was honored to present the award – as you know, I have several new lines on QVC now – be sure to watch on November 10th, when I share products from my Beauty Collection.
Mike George took the podium thanking the organization.
Mike and I then stopped for a quick press photo.
Terry Lundgren, executive chairman of Macy’s, was also among the evening’s honorees. Terry received the Humanitarian Award. He spoke about human connection and the hard work of those in other countries who make beautiful handmade products for retailers. Designer, Tommy Hilfiger, on the left, presented the award to Terry.
The Sustainability Award recipient was Marie-Claire Daveau, Chief sustainability officer and head of international institutional affairs for Kering. She is responsible for the continued development of Kering’s sustainability strategy and the direction of the Group’s institutional affairs.
Designer, Simone Rocha, was also honored for her passionate work and dedication to the fashion industry.
Actress Kerry Washington flew in from the west coast and was presented with the Lord & Taylor Fashion Oracle Award. She spoke about fashion as a language of modern expression.
Designer Marc Jacobs was also there – he presented the Board of Directors’ Media Award to WWD’s Bridget Foley.
Designer Thom Browne was given the 2017 Fashion Star trophy. Professional basketball player, Dwyane Wade, who is seen behind him, presented the award.
This is designer, Dries Van Noten – he was given the Superstar Award. Dries is known for his fashion expertise, but he also has a wonderful vision as a garden designer.
At a dinner honoring Karl Lagerfeld, Karl wore this fun celestial jacket. Karl is the head creative director of the fashion house Chanel as well as the Italian house Fendi and his own fashion label.
Here is Karl in his signature high starched collar.
Here’s a nice photo of Kevin Sharkey with Kris Jenner.
I’m sure you know this celebrity – Mariah Carey gave a lovely performance.
I had a lot of fun at the “Legends” Dinner honoring actress, Julianne Moore. Julianne has been on both my television and radio shows. Here I am with Chris Mitchell, Julianne, and John Hardy CEO, Robert Hanson. (Photo by Neil Rasmus for BFA)
And, here I am being interviewed by Mika Brzezinski during “Know Your Value”. We talked about building a business as a woman.
Behind stage, I stopped for a quick photo with cable news and talk radio host, and co-host of Morning Joe on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough.
This is a photo during my interview with Lisa Granatstein, Adweek Editor, VP, Content and Events. We talked about business and publishing, and how it has evolved over the years.
After the event, Lisa and I stopped for a quick photo.
