As you all know, I am an avid horseback rider, and love to go out for rides on my handsome Friesians. Horses are amazing animals. I have always appreciated them for their beauty and their companionship. I have nine residents in my stable - five Friesians, a Fell pony, and three Sicilian donkeys. Caring for equids is a huge responsibility, but it brings me great joy to see that they are happy and in the best possible health.
One of my favorite sources for good, quality supplies is Valley Vet Supply in Marysville, Kansas. Established by two veterinarians in 1985, Valley Vet Supply focuses on providing top products for dogs, cats, equines, and livestock. Recently, they sent us a delivery filled with lots of tools, supplements, and other accessories for my horses.
Enjoy these photos.
My stable manager, Sarah Levins, received a large delivery from Valley Vet Supply, including horse supplements, hoof boots, brushes, combs, saddle pads, horse sheets, toys and more. We always try new products to see which ones work best for my animals. https://www.valleyvet.com/
My Friesians get the best of care, but it’s also comforting to know Valley Vet Supply is owned by licensed veterinarians, who care about the quality of their products.
These are our New Mac’s 2015 Hoof Boots. Because some of my horses don’t wear horse shoes, these are a great option for pleasure riding around the farm.
They are very easy to put on and remove.
And they have great traction for summertime use.
They’re also very light and comfortable.
Sarah loves this saddle pad. It’s the Western Therapeutic Warmth Therapy Horse Saddle Pad by Back on Track USA. It’s made of polypropylene combined with state-of-the-art Weltex fabric, which is infused with ceramic powder to reflect the horse’s natural body warmth.
These pads fit so well underneath the saddle and are ultra light. Sarah also loves them because they are extra long, and don’t cause any chafing on the horse’s back.
These are patented, state-of-the-art performance cinches featuring molded airflow channel designs that offer breathability and flexibility.
And, these straps provide even pressure across the entire cinch to keep the saddle snug and the horse comfortable.
These are Therapeutic Warmth Therapy Mesh Horse Sheets – breathable mesh material with light fabric. These are designed to reflect the horse’s own body warmth, and create a soothing, infrared thermal heat, which can help alleviate pain associated with inflamed or sore muscles and joints.
The fabric has polyester thread embedded with a fine ceramic powder. Each one includes two chest buckles, crossing belly surcingles, and a tail flap.
Sarah says the horses really do feel better after wearing them for a a couple of hours.
My horses and donkeys love to play. The Jolly Tug is a great toy to have out in the paddock – it’s durable, water resistant and provides lots of fun.
This one includes a 14-inch inflatable Jolly Ball encased in durable, washable Cordura nylon cover. Two handles allow multiple horses to play tug with each other. Bright colors make this horse toy stand out.
Meanwhile, inside my stable feed room, Sarah prepares the horses’ supplements. Each horse gets a variety of vitamins and minerals to keep them feeling healthy and looking their best.
We use these large stainless steel dog bowls to mix up each horse’s dose – each bowl is properly labeled, so there is no confusion which supplements go into what bowl. We also label them AM and PM, so it is clear which items are for morning and evening feedings.
Among the powders, this is Advanced Cetyl M Joint Action Formula. It contains Cetyl Myristoleate which is a unique, esterified fatty acid. It is found to work in conjunction with other proven joint-enhancing ingredients to deliver the greatest benefit to the horse. It is the only equine joint health product that uses 100-percent plant-based CM.
Command MSM Concentrated contains only ultra-pure, filler-free MSM with no silicone dioxide. It provides strength to tendons, ligaments, and joint tissues.
Access Health and Wellness Formula is a complete program for peak nutrition. This supplies all the fat and water and soluble vitamins, chelated trace minerals, electrolytes, amino acids and probiotics. They love it.
We keep all the powders in these uniform stainless steel containers, for easy reach and distribution – again everything is well labeled.
Sarah mixes all the supplements together with the horses’ favorite grains.
The bowls are then piled up for morning and evening.
Sarah keeps them stored in one of the bins until feeding time.
My horses always look so healthy and happy! They are so beautiful.
