As you know, I live a very busy and varied life - my daily schedule often includes several media appearances or photography shoots, and many, many meetings.
As a celebrity figure, it is important that I look my best, especially for public events and commitments. Depending on our calendar, my longtime makeup artist, Daisy Schwartzberg Toye, will come to the farm, or meet me at the office, to do my makeup. When she is not traveling with me, Daisy can be found at the Rita Hazan Salon, here in New York City. We have a lot of fun trying new products - I prefer a very natural and fresh look. Yesterday, I asked Daisy to go over the basics of my makeup regimen, and to share some of her beauty tips that work well for me, and hopefully for you too.
Enjoy these photos.
The first thing Daisy does is set up all her makeup supplies on the kitchen counter, so everything is neat, tidy, easy to see and easy to access.
She uses a variety of different brushes and applicators in all different sizes – having an array is great for layering and perfecting details.
I like to use this beautiful chair made by my brother, Eric – a dentist by profession, but also an extremely talented and passionate artisan. He has been on my television show with his wonderful wood creations – I will share more of his work in a future blog.
I always make cappuccinos before we start our makeup routine.
Then, Daisy hands me a warm washcloth to wipe my face.
We start with a good moisturizer. I use Laura Mercier’s Flawless Skin Nourishing Cream Moisturizer. I also use moisturizers and serums by Cle de Peau, Sulwhasoo and Mario Badescu. http://www.lauramercier.com/
Do you know what this is? It is called the Beauty Blender sponge – it’s one of Daisy’s makeup kit staples. Edgeless, and reusable – it’s a big favorite. http://www.beautyblender.com/
Daisy uses Yves Saint Laurant’s Top Secret Moisture Glow Primer – a lightweight moisturizer that primes the skin for makeup. http://www.yslbeautyus.com/
Daisy also likes NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and Cle de Peau’s Radiant Cream Foundation O20 with SPF – it gives a very natural and smooth finish – another big staple in Daisy’s kit. http://www.cledepeaubeaute.com/
Daisy and I are always seeking the best makeup products. My regimens sometimes vary depending on what commitments I have that day – television or print camera ready makeup is a little different than the makeup I use for event appearances.
Daisy likes to layer different products for the best look – there are many from which to choose.
While Daisy applies my makeup, we often discuss the latest beauty trends, the day’s current events, and technology – the newest digital apps and programs.
And, of course, the day’s schedule – sometimes we have several appearances or events to attend in a day.
For eye shadow, I use an all matte palette called Naked Ultimate Basics from Urban Decay. Oftentimes, Daisy will mix it with shades from a Chanel palette. palettehttp://www.urbandecay.com/ http://www.chanel.com/
As a celebrity, I’ve had to sit through many makeup sessions – many times, I start reading emails during the process, so I can get some work done at the same time.
After applying eye shadow, Daisy uses a Givenchy eyebrow pencil. https://www.givenchybeauty.com/en/make-up/eyes-eyebrows
Daisy is always showing me apps she loves to use. We stopped for a quick “selfie” so we could try a photo app she likes.
What’s next, Daisy? Here she is ready to apply Bobbi Brown’s Gel Eyeliner – we’re using Black Ink and Cobalt Ink – used in layers. These eyeliners are long-wearing with the precision of liquid liner and the ease of a gel-based formula. https://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/
Many makeup artists will dab liquid eyeliners on the back of their hand – this allows them easy access to it while applying, just as a painter uses their palette.
Daisy layers the eyeliner with Trish McEvoy’s Gel Eye Liner in Deep Aubergine – this provides great definition inside and outside the lash line.
This is Voluminous False Fiber Lashes by L’Oreal, which is inexpensive and available at many drugstores. Daisy’s tip: because mascara is something that should be replenished often, she never spends a lot on it – find one that is affordable and effective.
We are always trying new lipsticks – on this day, I used Givenchy Voluptuous Nude.
For bronzers, we use Bobbie Brown, NARS, and Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze and Glow. And for blush, Daisy uses Mac’s Mineralize Warm Soul. And, Daisy always finishes with Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray to set the makeup. http://www.charlottetilbury.com/ http://www.maccosmetics.com/ https://www.mariobadescu.com/
Daisy accompanies me on trips and various media appearances, but she can also be found at New York City’s famous Rita Hazan Salon. https://ritahazan.com/
Once we’re done, Daisy puts everything away in several clean and small pouches – this makes everything easy to find for touch-ups at shoots or appearances.
Quick, natural and long lasting for a busy day ahead. Thanks, Daisy!
