As you know, Halloween is among my favorite occasions - did you see my costumes on my Instagram page @MarthaStewart48? Tell me what you think of them in the comments section below.
Every year, I always love to decorate the front entrance to my farm in preparation for all the children that go trick or treating on All Hallows' Eve. I’ve acquired many ghoulish props over the years - from life-sized mummies and skeletons to scary crows and ravens. Some items are from our Martha Stewart Living line at Home Decorators Collection, available through The Home Depot. It’s so much fun to come up with different ways to display my fearsome friends. Have a spooky, fun and very safe Halloween.
They don’t look too scary yet, but here are some of my life-sized skeletons ready to guard the front entrance to my farm.
The mummies are also taken out of their boxes.
I have ghosts and ravens
And, a menacing Halloween skeleton horse. This equine friend is 74-inches tall and has sound effects. It’s from The Home Depot.
Here is another horse ready to greet any of the ghosts and goblins that come looking for treats.
The first ghosts were suspended from the tree branches.
We hung this ghost from the outdoor light on one side of my gym building.
Two ghosts look even better.
It’s not Halloween without a boney friend by your side. Here is one full-sized pose and stay skeleton – a life-sized prop that features all the bones of the human body.
Blackie, the greenhouse cat, is even interested to visit with the skeletons.
Ravens in their cage, also from my Martha Stewart Living line at Home Decorators Collection.
We grew a lot of wonderful cucurbits this year. Take a look at this season’s harvest – some are set right here, on the front wall.
A bony sentinel watches over the front gate.
Here it is from the front.
In my basement, my new administrative assistant, Shqipe Berisha, bags lots of candy for the trick or treaters.
This candy came to us from the Hershey Company. https://www.hersheys.com/en_us/home.html
The Take 5 is a pretzel, caramel, peanut and peanut butter-filled, milk chocolate coated candy bar also from The Hershey Company.
Here is a bin of KitKats – a big hit with children and adults.
Reece’s Peanut Putter Cups – which treats are your favorites?
One of my big favorites is milk chocolate M&Ms.
Shqipa places several candies into a cellophane bag – these bags are available online and can be so helpful for a lot of crafts.
Then, Shqipa ties a simple ribbon to the top.
More than 100-children are sure to be coming by my house Halloween night.
As night fell, we captured these photos of the decorations in the front entryway.
Here is another horse, placed strategically in this corner by my gym.
At the front, our skeletons are already making themselves at home at the table.
While many ghosts flew overhead – all frightfully fun.
The skeletons are everywhere. Now that our weekend rain storm has passed, we will take out the rest of the decorations and set them up in time for tonight’s parade of costumed children that come to my gate. Happy Halloween.
