Citymeals on Wheels Power Lunch for Women
On Friday, I attended the Citymeals-on-Wheels 22nd Annual Power Lunch for Women held at the beautiful Rainbow Room in New York City. This event was especially thrilling for me because I was honored for my contributions to geriatric care. My friend Lynda Resnick, of Roll International, was also recognized for her leadership in corporate philanthropy. This luncheon is really just a sea of fabulous women and some men who are there to give support to the most wonderful Citymeals-on-Wheels.
Founded in 1981 by Gael Green, the restaurant critic, the mission of Citymeals-on-Wheels is to make sure that no homebound elderly New Yorker will ever go a day without nutritious food or human company. Meals are prepared using public donations and are delivered by volunteers. To date, more than 40 million meals have been delivered to those in need. And at Monday’s lunch, more than 1.5 million dollars was raised, exceeding Citymeals-on-Wheels expectations! I applaud all who are involved. Â
