A Winter Ride Around the Farm
Early in the morning, on days I don’t have to rush into New York City for work, I always try to make some time to stroll or drive around the farm - to visit the animals, to inspect the outbuildings and other structures, and to see what’s growing in the gardens and greenhouses. I find this task of regularly touring my farm to be an important responsibility of home ownership, but also a pleasant, and often meditative addition to my busy days.
Here in the Northeast, this is the first week of cold, windy weather. Until now, temperatures have been unusually warm for this time of year. Because of the milder conditions, we were able to complete all our fall chores, plus a few other projects on the list. The farm is definitely ready for the season, and looks beautiful.
