Woodland Maintenance
The cold, snowy, icy days do not have to be spent indoors. In fact, a lot of good outdoor work can be accomplished if you are well dressed and careful. My grounds crew loves to do woodland maintenance and cleanup during the winter months—the weeds and brambles are easier to deal with and the frozen ground allows easy access. Also, it is much easier to get to the broken and dying trees and simpler to pick up branches.
We use a professional crew (SavATree, Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) for more difficult work, and my guys for the simpler but just as important tasks. Enjoy the photos.
