A Tour of Worth Avenue, Palm Beach
For six glorious warm days right after Christmas in NYC, we visited Palm Beach, Florida. Alexis, Jude, Truman, and nanny Beverly and I were guests of my good friend Lis Barron. We stayed in her beautiful villa in the North End—it is right on the Intercoastal Waterway, very close to where it connects with the Atlantic Ocean.
We enjoyed good weather, warm sun, sandy beaches, great meals, and lots of excellent tours, trips, parties and visits with friends. It was a jam-packed visit, just like I love a trip to be. Lis arranged several tours for us, including a historic walking tour of the ultimate shopping street, Worth Avenue. Worth Avenue has been identified as one of the most "iconic" streets in America, famous for its local gorgeous architecture, its fancy shops and its delightful eateries.
Only four blocks long, the shady arcades, the hidden courtyards and the pleasant weather, year-round, make shopping a delight.
The oldest store is Kassatly’s, dating from 1923, but there are 250 other stores, boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. There is Saks, Neiman Marcus, as well as Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Tiffany’s.
