Safety always comes first whenever my dogs travel.
I have long loved Chow Chows and have shared my home with many over the years. They've all been champions of their breed and love competing in conformation shows, including the annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York City. Due to the pandemic, all dog shows are currently postponed, but whenever my dogs travel it is always important to ensure they are as safe as possible. Recently, I learned about the Impact Dog Crate - a durable, innovative, and well-designed product that is very portable, easy to assemble, and made of high-quality materials to keep any pet secure.
Enjoy these photos.
Here is my young and handsome Chow Chow, Emperor Han showing off his new Impact Dog Crate – made by Heater Craft Marine Products, Inc., a family-owned business located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in North Idaho.
This crate is made with durable .064 inch and 16 gauge space-grade aluminum. It just takes minutes to assemble – just lift up the collapsible sides and secure the attached butterfly latches. I chose gray, but these crates come in a variety of colors and sizes.
This Impact Dog Crate is both lightweight, strong, and great for any breed dog.
It is also safe for young puppies. Once it is assembled, there are no chewable parts that can be accessible to curious and teething youngsters.
After all the wall butterfly latches are tightened, my property director, Fred Jacobsen, secures the side brackets.
The brackets are also equipped with butterfly latches that click right into place. All Impact Dog Crates are made with non-toxic powder coating for maximum safety.
Next, Fred places the recycled rubber grooming pad on top of the crate and aligns it properly. There are handles at both ends of the crate, each one strong enough to carry 500 pounds.
Here, he removes the adhesive backing and slowly adheres the pad to the crate surface. The special corner plates allow for safe stacking of like-sized crates. This is a great solution for those with multiple dogs and tight spaces, such as dog shows.
The durable grooming pad wipes up easily, is scratch-resistant, and provides a non-skid surface for the pet.
The crate fits nicely in the back of my SUV. This crate is also great to use indoors for those dogs and puppies who cannot be left alone unsupervised.
The Impact Dog Crate comes with a portable grooming rail and arm. Here, Fred replaces one side bracket with this grooming rail – also with easy-to-tighten butterfly latches.
The grooming arm folds into the rail for easy storing during transportation and then just pops into the holder when ready to use. This wire is a safety catch on the rail pin which secures the arm to the rail.
Here is the fully assembled crate with the grooming arm attached. The door has ample ventilation bars in front and a durable door that can be hinged from either the left or right side.
For easy portability, the Impact Dog Crate is also available with a removable cart and wheels.
All the necessary screws, bolts, and tools come with the cart and wheel package.
Fred attaches the wheels to the bottom of the tray – four screws and bolts for each wheel.
This wheeled cart is engineered specifically for every dog crate size.
The cart attaches to quick latches that connect to the crate for stability. When not in use, it can be placed on top of the crate for easy storage.
The cart’s wheels have safety locks to keep the crate from moving.
Here is the crate “parked” in the back of my carport where it will be stored until it is needed. Han, Empress Qin, and my French Bulldogs, Creme Brulee, and Bete Noire are very well-behaved and don’t need crates inside my home.
And here is my dear boy, Emperor Han, trying the crate out for size. This 40-inch crate is perfect for my Chow Chow. The Impact Dog Crate is safe and secure and ready for the next big road trip.
