What are you doing to celebrate the wonderful moms in your life this year? With Mother’s Day just a couple of weeks away, why not give her fresh-cut blooms shipped directly from Certified American Grown flower and greens farms - it’s a great way to support local businesses especially during this difficult time.
Certified American Grown is a unified and diverse coalition of US flower and greens farms representing small and large entities that grow everything from fragrant garden roses to bright field flowers to lush foliage. Yesterday, I received several boxes of beautifully grown blooms and greens - columbines, hellebores, roses, anemones, tulips, Ornithogalum, delphiniums, pittosporums, podocarps, lily grass, lace ferns and so many more - all the highest quality and freshness. I took them out right away and made some gorgeous arrangements for my home.
Enjoy these photos, and please support our Certified American Grown flower and greens farms.
All these lovely flowers were grown at Certified American Grown farms across the country – farms that are still open during this crisis. Here are just some of the flowers I received – all out on my kitchen counter ready to be made into gorgeous arrangements.
The flowers and greens are so colorful and so fragrant. American Grown flower and greens farms offer direct shipping to consumers, so these cut blooms arrive quickly to your door.
So many spray roses, garden roses, delphiniums, tulips, and Solomon’s Seal – and all just ready to bloom.

This is a hard time for everyone and US flower farmers are encouraging everyone to buy bouquets for family and friends – it brings joy to the recipient and helps the struggling flower and greens farms industry. Plus, not only are the flowers available with direct shipping but also at many grocery stores. Some farms offer local pick up or delivery, and florists can source American Grown as well.

I made cut flower arrangements for each room in my Winter House. This arrangement of roses is on the counter in my servery.
This bold pink and green arrangement is in my smaller dining room. When making arrangements, cut all green and woody stems at a 45-degree angle. This prevents stems from sitting flat in the bottom of the vase and creates a large surface area, ensuring maximum water absorption.
I love greens – a vase of all green foliage looks so elegant on a silver platter like this.
Here’s another one on a side table in the same room. And change the water every other day to prevent bacterial buildup and to ensure the flowers are receiving proper nutrients.
Here are some hellebores, lilies, and Solomon’s Seal in a vase in my foyer. Gorgeous arrangements don’t always have to be giant in size – they can also be small with stems hanging over the sides of the vase.
Here’s another small arrangement at the foot of my large falcon just inside my front door. All the flowers smell so wonderful – the fragrance is intoxicating.
Don’t be afraid to experiment. Here, I used a silver pitcher for the vase – look for interesting vessels around your home.
Empress Tang loves to sit and watch all the activity. Here she is perched on the settee in my Green Parlor. The cats and dogs are not exactly sure why I’ve been home so much – I wonder if they’re enjoying the constant company.
