If you’re thinking of renovating your home, consider attending local home and garden shows for inspiration.
While in Arizona last week, I spoke at the Maricopa County Home & Garden Show. The two-day event was held at WestWorld of Scottsdale - a nationally recognized multi-use facility in the desert city just east of Phoenix. There were more than 1000 shopping booths, plus local artisans, engaging workshops, classes and seminars and so much more. I was honored to speak to such a large and welcoming crowd on both days - I offered home design tips, talked about business, my books and current projects, and shared lots of personal stories. I also spent some time talking to many of those who attended the show in a special “meet & greet” photo line. Afterward, I squeezed in a little shopping and sightseeing in the area. It was a very productive and fun weekend.

The Maricopa County Home & Garden Show is the largest home show in the Southwest. Their events run several times during the year.
Last weekend’s show was at Westworld located on 386-acres with usable fields, arenas and event spaces.
This is the Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center – a climate-controlled event space featuring a 120,000 square–foot Equidome with 3400 permanent seats surrounding a sunken arena.
The show included hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, Booths were set up to look like real home environments featuring the newest in floors, countertops, home decor and more.
Seats were filled quickly – it was great to see such an enthusiastic crowd.
Radio host Matthew Blades interviewed me on both days of the Show. Here he is welcoming me to the stage.
During my interview, Matthew and I talked about Halloween – it’s coming soon – and the great costumes I’ve worn over the years. We also discussed entrepreneurism, cooking, baking, home design and home projects, gardening, and of course, my dear friend Snoop Dogg.
Here are some of the guests waiting to take photos. I always have such a fun time meeting all those who come out to see me.
Here I am with the Home Show staff.
In this photo, I’m joined by Brian Slutsky, owner and CEO of Think Tank Media. Brian helped organize my appearance.
The second day of the Show also drew lots of people.
This audience was even more energetic.
I stopped to take this photo with Matthew and his family.
And, happy birthday to my friend, Snoop Dogg. This day was his actual birthday. Here I am with some guests who also wanted to wish him well.
Afterward, we had just enough time to do a little shopping. We stopped at Vintage by Misty, which carries a curated collection of vintage designer clothing, jewelry, and accessories from around the world. We all admired this colorful jacket with birds and flowers.
We also saw lots of vintage jewelry.
The boutique is filled with rare fashion finds.
From jewelry to handbags – this case was filled with gorgeous accessories.
Do you recognize my special events director, Heather Kirkland, in this fashionable wig? We also stopped in at Haley’s Designer Wigs in Mesa. Heather tried on a few – they all looked great on her.
I also got to see Charlie Green, who was my makeup artist for a couple years in New York City. You may have seen this photo on my Instagram page @MarthaStewart48. It was a busy, but very enjoyable visit to Arizona.
