My Trip to South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2019
There is always so much to do at SOBEWFF!
As you know, I recently flew to Florida to attend the 18th annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival. It is a wonderful multiple day affair that benefits The Florida International University Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management - one of the top hospitality management schools in the United States. While there, I always try to participate in as many events as possible. Among them, I co-hosted a dinner at The Regional Kitchen & Public House - the first-ever Festival dinner at the Palm Beaches, I conducted a book signing at the Soho Beach House, and hosted a Wine & Cheese Happy Hour reception at the No. 3 Social Roof Bar & Lounge. It was a great time!
Here are more photos - enjoy.
- This photo was taken just before our dinner at The Regional Kitchen & Public House. Here I am with Chef Clay Conley, who operates the Buccan, Imoto and Grato restaurants all located in Palm Beach County. Lindsay Autry is the founder and chef of The Regional Kitchen & Public House.
- Lindsay was first inspired by my Herb Brush Recipe when she was a young girl. As a nice tribute, she incorporated the herb brush in the evening’s dishes.
- Dinner began with Lindsay’s a winter vegetable salad of roasted and raw local vegetables with a whipped house yogurt.
- This dessert is a vanilla bean pavlova with lemon cream, Florida citrus, and candied pistachios made by pastry chef Sarah Sipe.
- Here’s another snapshot of Clay and Lindsay. It was a great dinner – the first-ever in the Palm Beaches.
- Downstairs on the second floor of the Soho Beach House, where we stayed, is the Club Bar. This is where I was scheduled to do my book signing for “The Martha Manual.”
- 70-guests attended the book signing – it was a full house. (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- There was a light breakfast of pastries, croissants, fruits, coffee and other refreshments for all to enjoy. (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- If you don’t already have a copy of my book, be sure to order yours today – it is online and at bookstores right now, and is a great compilation of so many of the useful “Good Things” I’ve shared over the years. You will love the how-to instructions for doing – almost – everything. (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- I always try to be as personal as possible when signing books. It is a detail I have always considered very important. (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- My books were available for purchase at the Club Bar. It is always so nice to talk to those who buy my books – I enjoy hearing how I’ve inspired them over the years. (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- Here are two more happy book owners! (Photo courtesy of Soho Beach House)
- I am so proud of this publication – it makes a great gift any time of year, and is so full of handy ideas, solutions and photographs.
- Here I am with Guy Chetwynd, the general manager at the Soho Beach House and head of operations.
- For lunch, a group of us attended a fun luncheon at Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach. Those at my table included Daisy Schwartzberg Toye, Allyn Magrino, Susan Magrino, Lis Barron, Yolanda Berkowitz, and Jayne Abess.
- So many others were also there – here I am with our own Chef Emeril Lagasse.
- And here’s a group photo of chefs Geoffrey Zakarian, Marcus Samuellson, Emeril, Bobby Flay, Scott Conant and Drew Nieporent.
- Here is the mastermind of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Lee Schrager, with my longtime publicist and friend, Susan.
- Chef Alex Guarnaschelli was also there.
- And here I am with Chef Bobby Flay.
- If you follow me on Instagram at @marthastewart48, you may have seen this photo of me with Neil Patrick Harris and his husband, David Burtka.
- Later that evening, I hosted a Wine & Cheese Happy Hour sponsored by Carr’s Crackers. I welcomed everyone to the event and spoke about the festival. I’ve been participating at SoBe since 2007 and have so many fond memories from all the events over the years.
- A representative from FIU, Florida International University also spoke. This Festival benefits FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center. Each year, more than a thousand students and volunteers gain invaluable real-world experience with the Festival – which serves as an interactive educational platform for the future leaders of the hospitality industry. To date, the Festival has raised more than 28-million dollars for the School.
- This cocktail reception was also sold out – 300-people attended. I was so happy to see so many guests there. Here I am with friends Lis, Daisy, Susan and Allyn. It’s always so much fun at SoBe – I can’t wait to return next year!
