Known as the nation’s largest exhibit of its kind, this year’s show is entitled “Singapore” - a tribute to one of the world’s greatest orchid cultures. You’ll be amazed at the garden’s transformation of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory showcasing thousands of beautiful orchids in a spectacular variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and patterns. Earlier this week was NYBG’s annual Orchid Dinner in the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza. The dinner included stunning large-scale table centerpieces created by a group of New York’s leading designers. As you will see in these photos, each centerpiece is full of color and creativity. Proceeds from the event benefit the development of NYBG’s orchid research collection, which helps to maintain the highest horticultural standards of orchid conservation.
The event also allowed guests to purchase beautiful orchid specimens for their own personal garden collections during a pre-dinner sale - you'll love my new plants. Here are some photos - enjoy.
Held every year to kick off the annual Orchid Show, this year’s event welcomed 300-guests to New York City’s iconic Plaza Hotel. http://www.theplazany.com
One way the NYBG raises money is to have an orchid sale prior to the dinner. All the orchids for sale were displayed as you entered the ballroom. http://www.nybg.org

At the rare orchid sale, I purchased two wonderful plants. This is an extremely rare Angraecum Crestwood ‘Tomorrow Star’. Watering these plants once a week to once every 10-days is usually sufficient for larger plants. Bright light from an east or west window is best.
Here is a closer look at its delicate star-shaped flowers.
And this is a beautiful xCattlianthe Big Ben ‘Blue Mountain – everyone wanted this pretty specimen. If you love orchids as much as I do, I know you’ll enjoy the show at The NYBG.
