The Sun Wine & Food Fest in Uncasville, Connecticut
Wine and food festivals are an excellent way to gather culinary experts, vendors, and enthusiasts so they could meet, exchange ideas and learn from some of today’s top masters.
Over the weekend, I made an appearance at the Sun Wine & Food Fest at Mohegan Sun, located along the banks of the Thames River in Uncasville, Connecticut. The three-day event featured tastings, cuisine pairings, and celebrity chef meet and greets with various experts, such as Rocco DiSpirito, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Todd English. And, if you follow me on Instagram @MarthaStewart48, you know I was joined by rapper, Snoop Dogg - my co-host on "Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party" on VH1! Snoop and I hosted the final event - a brunch demo. It was a huge success - more than 1200-visitors packed the ballroom and enjoyed our buckwheat pancakes, from my January-February issue of "Living", and our sausage patties and links. It was an excellent time.
Here are some photos of our demo and some of the other highlights from the festival - enjoy. And don't forget, I'll be LIVE on QVC today at 5pm ET - be sure to tune in!
The event was the 16th annual Sun Wine & Food Fest at Mohegan Sun, one of the largest casinos in the United States. Over the entire weekend, more than 10-thousand guests came to sample fine wines and foods. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Here are members of my team who posed with Chef Todd English for this quick snapshot during the “Celebrity Chef Dine Around” – Jessie Damuck, Dorian Arrich, Judy Morris, and Heather Kirkland.
There were lots of wonderful bites to sample, such as these artisanal breads.
Some chefs prepared samples of signature dishes as guests walked around to sample and take photos.
There were also lots of sweets to enjoy at the “Divine Delights” dessert and wine tastings. Guests gathered at every booth.
Here is a case filled with unique and flavorful ice creams.
Here’s another fun photo with Heather, Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, Dorian and Jessie. I just saw Alex during a television show taping we did together. It is always fun to catch up with other celebrities.
And here is the team with Chef Jasper White. Jasper is also a restaurateur and cookbook author who is recognized as one of the leading authorities on New England food and its history, in particular seafood.
On the morning of our brunch, Mohegan Sun’s Uncas Ballroom filled quickly. The space includes 38-thousand square feet of pillarless space, one of the largest hotel ballrooms in the Northeast, with 23-foot ceilings. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
These guests also had fun aprons – made for them by a family member.
This is our demo stage before we arrived. A giant monitor was positioned above our demo table so everyone in the could see.
Here is the ballroom just before our demo – every seat was filled. It was great to see such an enthusiastic audience.
I had copies of my newest releases on display – do you have “Martha Stewart’s Newlywed Kitchen” yet? (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Audience members asked us lots of questions. This guest, Scott, purchased a copy of “Newlywed Kitchen” and was so excited to try all the recipes. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Snoop and I always have such a great time cooking together, but we definitely have different cooking styles. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Snoop showed everyone his one-handed egg cracking skills – not bad at all, Snoop Dogg. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
And then made the sausage links and patties while I prepared the mixture for our buckwheat pancakes – the recipe is from our January/February issue of “Living”, which is on newsstands now.
Here I am flipping pancakes and talking to the audience. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
I suggested Snoop cook the links and patties separately, but his idea was to cook them in the same pan. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Then I told him he could cook them any way he wanted – that made him happy. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
Either way, we had so much fun – one laugh after another. (Photo by Lucas Acuna/Full Focus Films)
And we made a delicious brunch for everyone who attended. See you soon, Snoop.
