I am thrilled about this book, and tomorrow, you'll be able to pre-order it on QVC! It includes so many stunning photographs of flowers I have grown at my Bedford, New York farm and at Skylands, my home in Maine. Kevin Sharkey worked very closely with me on this book and created many of the beautiful flower displays - it's a must-have for any gardener or flower enthusiast seeking helpful tips on growing, gathering, arranging and enjoying a broad range of gorgeous blooms. If you follow my Instagram page @MarthaStewart48, you may have seen my raised planter box - it is another exciting and new QVC offering, and a perfect place for your flowers or plants. During tomorrow's show, I will talk about it and show you all its practical features I designed myself. And, I will also have some of my favorite gardening essentials, including my secateurs and my Hori Hori knife, as well as my new handy garden totes I know you will love.
I'll be on QVC tomorrow, January 30th, at 5pm ET and 8pm ET, so don't miss it. And be sure to check my Twitter page @MarthaStewart for any changes. Enjoy these photos.
Here is the cover of my newest, and 90th, book – “Martha’s Flowers, A Practical Guide to Growing, Gathering, and Enjoying” – I am so excited for you all to have it.
Here is a photo from the book of me in my garden. The book talks about my love for gardening and how I worked alongside my father, helping him to cultivate the soil and grow beautiful healthy flowers in the gardens behind my childhood home. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
The book gives lots of tips on designing and arranging – these are some lilacs that were picked and arranged by Kevin Sharkey at Skylands. I love this color palette of purple and lavender mixed with the bold green foliage. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
Here is another beautiful arrangement displayed on my dining table at Skylands. You will also learn ideas for choosing your flowers to make arrangements.
This is my flower cutting garden at Skylands. The cutting garden is in the same location as my vegetable garden. When I am there, I love going out and cutting fresh stems to fill my containers. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
Kevin shares my passion for flowers and loves to create beautiful arrangements. He is a very talented floral designer and always makes such interesting and colorful displays. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
My new book is a wonderful resource for learning how and when to plant, nurture, and at the perfect time, cut from the garden – gardeners of all levels will appreciate the ideas and inspirations in this book. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
This is one of my favorite images from the book – a stunning vessel of poppies – so full of color and texture. (Photo from “Martha’s Flowers”)
I love designing beautiful flower gardens. This is a drone photo of my long and winding pergola – we had such a stunning show of lilies last summer – I loved seeing more and more of the blooms open each day.
Here are some gorgeous alliums. I love these globes of color. Alliums are all around my farm.
I also created this tulip bed a couple of years ago behind my berry bushes – we had so many colorful and stunning tulips. Everyone loves tulips – single, double, fringed and parrot-style. I have been planting tulips for as long as I can remember. Find out what I loved about planting these flowers en masse in my book.
My flower cutting garden at Bedford is large – it is located just behind my main greenhouse, so I can stop by to check on the flowers before I leave for work each morning.
I love growing a variety of blooms, and am always searching for new and unique flowers to add.
Along one side of my farm, I created a massive daffodil border.
Every spring, everyone at the farm takes photos of this beautiful border.
I plant a large variety of daffodils here – big and small. There is even a daffodil named after me – Narcissus ‘Martha Stewart’.
And here is the view behind my Summer House from the garden to the door. I love the walkway lined with tall lilies. The lily is another one of my favorite flowers – find out who first introduced me to the lily in my new book.
And my beautiful herbaceous peonies – I have an entire bed filled with peonies – the peony is a longtime favorite, and I look forward to seeing them burst with color every year – I can see this bed from my bedroom window.
Down past the chicken coops, I keep an allee of lilacs – beautiful smelling flowers. In the book, I talk about how fragrant it is to walk through this garden when all these lilacs are ready to be cut.
As many of you know, I love to decorate my home with flowers – especially when I am entertaining. These houseplants are usually kept in the greenhouse where they can be cared for properly, but I love to display beautiful blooms whenever I can. In the dead of winter, it is nice to see orchids on my table – they’re a great sign that spring is not far away.
I also love to display flowers on my kitchen counter, where I can see them as I prepare my morning cup of cappuccino.
Tomorrow on QVC, I will also be selling these faux bois planters which I designed. They come in three different sizes – nine -inch, 14-inch and 19-inch tall vessels made of resin.
And look – they have feet! Everyone loves this feature. The feet help with drainage and prevent surfaces from getting scratched.
This is the 19-inch faux bois planter in my greenhouse. Another great feature is that they are much lighter than they appear.
This is my faux bois raised planter box. All my faux bois planters feature realistic bark texture and drain holes at the bottom.
Be sure to watch @QVC tomorrow, January 30th, when I talk about my planters and wonderful new book! We’ll have lots of fun!
