I always enjoy visiting new restaurants whenever I travel - it is not only fun to try different foods, but also very inspiring to learn about other businesses and their specialties.

On this day we ate at Cafe L’Europe in Palm Beach. Cafe L’Europe first opened in 1980 and quickly became part of the Palm Beach allure.
This is the front entrance of Cafe L’Europe. After 15-years on Worth Avenue, the restaurant moved to this location on South County Road in 1995.
Diners love this Palm Beach continental establishment. It remains popular for its decor, live music, and good service. It was here that I met a young, enthusiastic and aspiring baker who came to my table. We stopped for a photo – take a look at it on my Instagram page @MarthaStewart48.
Here we are for lunch at The Butcher Shop in downtown West Palm Beach. This charming eatery is owned by father and son duo Igor and Fred Niznik. The setting incorporates an old-school butcher shop with antibiotic- and hormone-free custom cuts, an Eastern European-inspired restaurant, and a German-style covered beer garden.
The space is large, with 4300 square-feet inside and 7000 square-feet outside.

And here are all the labeled taps – such a fine variety of rotating beers to try. The food and beer reflect the owner’s Eastern European roots. Some of the beers include German and Czech brands.
Here is the outdoor patio. There is ample seating at The Butcher Shop both inside and out.
There are approximately 200-seats in all.

The shop also has an array of packaged deli products including their prepared Polish Pierogies you can cook at home.
Here is a six-inch all-beef hotdog on a potato bun – with fixings. It was delicious.
Of course, it came with some fries – we chose sweet potato fries.
Of course, we had to try their pierogies also. The Butcher Shop serves a “daily chef’s choice” pierogi – very flavorful.
Most of the time, we were under sunny skies in Palm Beach; however, on this day, it was quite cloudy and stormy – the palm trees were swaying from the strong winds.
Here, you can see the palm fronds swaying to one side – at one point there were gale force winds blowing through the area.
On another day, I ate dinner at the home of my friend, Khooshe Aiken. She cooked a Persian feast, which included this rice dish called tahdig, meaning scorched rice. Did you see the photo on my Instagram page @Marthastewart48?
Here is Khooshe putting the finishing touches on the tahdig. Making tahdig involves putting extra cooking fat in the bottom of the rice pot – the bottom layer of the rice gets pan-fried while the rice above gets steamed.
This is Khooshe’s standard poodle relaxing on the couch.
And here I am with my friend, Lisbeth Barron. It was a fun evening and a great way to celebrate the new year ahead.
