Yesterday, during my appearance on The Today Show, I showed co-anchor, Matt Lauer, two recipes from the book that I love - Individual Chicken Potpies and Warm Chocolate Pudding Cakes. This book is perfect for couples wanting a little guidance in the kitchen - it offers hints and tips for setting up a kitchen, cooking with and for each other, and planning successful parties for every occasion. With 100-recipes and 125-stunning photographs, “Newlywed Kitchen: Recipes for Weeknight Dinners & Easy, Casual Gatherings” is the ideal engagement, wedding, or anytime gift for couples who cook.
Here I am at New York City’s famed Rockefeller Plaza, where The Today Show broadcasts its outdoor segments. I am on set during the tease to our cooking demo preparing some of the ingredients for the Warm Chocolate Pudding Cakes.
Six newlywed couples sat nearby at cafe tables ready to sample our two featured recipes. The couples also had cooking questions for me to answer.

I explained to Matt, and to the audience, that this new book is the ultimate handbook for the modern couple, and provides helpful tips on how to whip up delicious recipes for quick weeknight cooking and easy entertaining.
Here, I am showing Matt how to fill the ramekins with the mix of vegetables and the prepared puffed pastry.
Here are the Individual Chicken Potpies filled with chicken, greens, onions, carrots, celery and potato under a buttery puffed pastry.
This photo of the potpies is from the book – look how golden the puffed pastry tops are – perfect for cold winter nights, and so easy to make.
As Matt and I move down the table, I talk about the mix for the Warm Chocolate Pudding Cakes.
These are the finished pudding pies from above. You can also see my Amethyst Old Fashioned Glasses – also from my Harvest Collection for Macy’s. They match perfectly with the Harvest Marbled Salad Plates.
I love how my Harvest Salt & Pepper Shaker Set looks on the tables – these turkeys stand out beautifully next to the earthenware plates – be sure to check them out and get your Thanksgiving Day table ready.
And, here we are with the newlywed couples – it was a very chilly morning at The Today Show, but everyone enjoyed sampling our two dishes from the book. This couple asked me “what I would eat if calories didn’t matter” – you’ll have to watch the segment to hear my response.
In this image, our delectable Warm Chocolate Pudding Cakes are topped with just a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
Other recipes in the book include our breakfast grain bowls – a fun new take on traditional oatmeal. Use any cooked whole grain and top with sweet or savory ingredients such as bacon and egg, black rice with smoked salmon or banana, coconut and pecans.
Another recipe from the book – my Paella, made with Spanish Bomba rice, which absorbs all the liquids and rich flavors without becoming too sticky.
Here’s a closer look showing these delicious ingredients – rice, chorizo, squid, shrimp, mussels and littleneck clams – everything you love in a tasty and flavorful paella.
And of course, everyone’s go-to for weeknight dining or weekend parties – pasta. This book gives you lots of tips for making classic favorites and new, tasty combinations.
My “Newlywed Kitchen” is perfect for any and all couples who enjoy cooking together and eating together. It makes a terrific holiday gift, but I know you’ll love these easy-to-make recipes so much, you will want to get an extra copy for yourself. Buy it now! goo.gl/hbLXCr
