Last weekend, I appeared at the Ventura County Star Food & Wine Experience at the historic Olivas Adobe Park, where the area’s only remaining Monterey-style adobe home from the Rancho era is located. I lead a cooking demo, hosted a wine tasting, conducted a book signing for my latest publication, “Slow Cooker”, and met hundreds of visitors who attended the event. It has been so nice to visit various cities and to see, first hand, how local chefs, mixologists and entrepreneurs are changing the food scene and inspiring others to appreciate local, organic farm to table foods. Vendor booths were spread throughout the property. Guests enjoyed stepping into our Martha Stewart Experience Pavilion, seeing samples from all my retail collections, and joining in on the Martha Stewart Crafts project at the Michaels Paint House.
It was a wonderful day in Ventura, California. Here are some photos - enjoy.
I was so exited to visit Ventura. Ventura is a California coastal city, northwest of Los Angeles. Although it was only a one day trip, I was glad to spend some time with all the “Meet Martha” ticket holders. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
Hundreds of guests attended the event – it was a great time for anyone who has a great appreciation for food.
Some of the local vendors included J Wolf Catering – they specialize in serving farm to table, organic and non-GMO foods. http://www.jwolfcatering.com
We stopped at the Public School On Tap booth – a clever American gastropub offering an eclectic menu, school like decor, and a bar. Here, they provided tasty tortilla bites. http://www.psontap.com/
Another vendor was Dottie’s Sweet Delights – home of handmade treats. Dottie’s shop uses wholesome ingredients, including organic sugar, hormone-free dairy products, pure sea salt and pure vanilla, made in house from triple-distilled vodka and Madagascar vanilla beans. http://dottiessweetdelights.com/
Farm to School also had a table set up. Farm to School is a program that connects schools and local farms in an effort to encourage serving healthy meals in school cafeterias and support local and regional farmers.
The first thing visitors saw when they entered our Martha Stewart Experience Pavilion was the Wall of Martha featuring all our partnering brands, including Macy’s, The Home Depot, QVC, Martha Stewart Wine Co., Martha & Marley Spoon, and more. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
They also saw, up close, our Martha Stewart “Harvest” table setting exclusively at Macy’s. It’s such a beautiful fall collection. Above the table – a Macy’s gadget chandelier made with handy supplies from my collection exclusively at Macy’s. https://www.macys.com/shop/kitchen/martha-stewart-kitchenware?id=30190
Visitors to our Martha Stewart Experience Pavillion also enjoyed making stenciled wooden picture frames using Martha Stewart Crafts supplies. http://www.michaels.com/crafts-and-hobbies/martha-stewart-crafts/938473843
By early afternoon, visitors flocked to the Culinary Stage for my food demo. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
Large monitors were put up around the Culinary Stage, so all the VIP ticket holders could watch my demo and ask questions. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
I shared recipes from my “Slow Cooker” book. I made poached salmon with salsa verde, ribollita and blueberry cornmeal buckle. It was so nice to see such a lively crowd. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
Our own Thomas Joseph also joined me. We had lots of fun cooking and answering questions from the audience. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
I heard stories from many of the guests – it’s always nice to hear how much people enjoy my books and recipes. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
Everything on the set, including our cooking pots, pans and utensils are from my collection at Macy’s. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
It was a great time and the crowd was wonderful. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
Here I am with Chef Bryan Scofield, chef and owner of Scofield Catering & Management.
Here is the Martha Stewart Wine Co. booth, where volunteers poured glasses of 2016 Racine Côtes De Provence, Rosé, and L’Arche Perlee Cremant De Bordeaux for guests to sample and enjoy.
This is a nice snapshot of Zac Brandenberg, CEO of DRINKS, who works with us on Martha Stewart Wine Co., Bruno Lafon, esteemed winemaker who produces the Racine Rosé, and Chris Hoel, an expert advisor for DRINKS and former sommelier from the renowned restaurant, The French Laundry. Zac brought his lovely family to the festival – everyone had a terrific time.
Later in the day, I hosted a book signing for “Slow Cooker”. I always enjoy these events because I get to meet so many different people. (Photo taken by Brandon Bibbins)
