Last weekend, our own director of food development and James Beard Award winning host of “Kitchen Conundrums”, Thomas Joseph, traveled to downtown Rochester, New York for the D&C Food & Wine Experience. He conducted a food demo, appeared on local radio, and met hundreds of visitors who attended the event. Guests also enjoyed stepping into our Martha Stewart Experience Pavilion, where they saw items from all my retail collections, and joined in on a Martha Stewart Crafts project at the Michaels Paint House. It was a very warm early autumn day - temperatures hit 90-degrees Fahrenheit - but everyone had lots of fun!
Enjoy our photos from Rochester - and I'll see you all in Ventura, October 1st!
Rochester is a city on Lake Ontario, in New York State. It is the third most populous city, with more than 200-thousand residents.
The D&C Food & Wine Experience was held in downtown Rochester at Parcel 5. http://foodandwine.democratandchronicle.com
Hundreds of people attended the event, where more than 25-vendors, restaurateurs and entrepreneurs gathered to share their foods.
Thomas was scheduled for an afternoon cooking demo and Q&A session.
Here’s one of the vendor booths – Ox and Stone, a local Latin-inspired restaurant. Visitors loved their paella. https://www.oxandstone.com
Simply Crepes was another popular stop. They were frying up one of their signature dishes using quail eggs. http://simplycrepes.com/
A giant bowl of quail eggs sat nearby – so pretty!
This is their sausage crepe with a sunny-side-up quail egg – so beautiful, delicious and dainty!
Here’s Doctor Chef Dan – school administrator by day and private chef by night. https://drchefdan.com/
Doctor Chef Dan made two of his specialty biscuits. This one is “The King” biscuit – a slightly sweetened peanut butter biscuit with special sauce, fresh banana and sliced candied bacon.
This is called “The Wing” biscuit – a savory blue cheese biscuit with braised chicken, wing sauce and celery vinaigrette salad.
Leaf Tea Bar is a brick and mortar creation of Happy Earth Tea, a Rochester, New York based purveyor of fine teas. https://happyearthtea.com/pages/leaf-tea-bar
Owner, Niraj Lama, originally from Darjeeling, India, offered samples of three cold brew teas and a hot tea – all fresh and organic.
By early afternoon, visitors flocked to the culinary stage for the food demos.
It was a “full house” for Thomas’ cooking demo.
Here is Thomas with his team for the day. He made green salad with vinaigrette, pan seared salmon, and his popular fudgy brownies – get the recipe from my web site. http://www.marthastewart.com/1113417/thomass-fudgy-brownies
Inside the Martha Stewart Experience Pavilion, visitors enjoyed seeing samples from all my collections. Here, Ethan and Austin, sons of our head of video development, Kim Miller-Olko, enjoyed making stenciled wooden plaques using Martha Stewart Crafts supplies.
These plaques were made using Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Acrylic Craft Paint, Foam Pouncers and wooden plaques supplied by Michaels. http://www.michaels.com/crafts-and-hobbies/martha-stewart-crafts/938473843
Everyone loved the Martha Stewart wines – they were so refreshing on such a warm day. My rose and sauvignon blanc were in high demand. https://marthastewartwine.com
And here’s a close-up of the Martha Stewart “Harvest” table setting exclusively at Macy’s – also on display in the Pavilion for all to see. It’s such a beautiful fall collection.
Thomas was LIVE on local radio – WHAM 1180. Thomas spoke about his digital series, “Kitchen Conundrums”, what he does as culinary director, and how closely we work together on developing recipes for my television shows and my new food collection for QVC. Be sure to tune-in to QVC on October 18th when I launch items from my gourmet food line – you’ll want to buy everything!
Here’s Thomas after a great time in Rochester. I will see you all in Ventura, California this Sunday, October 1st!
