HC&G (Hamptons Cottages & Gardens) Innovation in Design Awards
What an honor to receive the 2017 HC&G (Hamptons Cottages & Gardens) Innovator Award.
Last week, I was presented the "IDA" at the seventh annual HC&G Innovation in Design Awards dinner in Bridgehampton, New York. The event recognizes the very best in up-and-coming design talent across several categories, including architecture, interior design, garden design, kitchen design, bath design and product design. And to top it off, each year, HC&G presents the Innovator Award to an icon and visionary of the design industry - an individual who has achieved an overarching level of innovation and excellence. Past Innovator Award recipients include Richard Meier, Madeline Weinrib, Vicente Wolf, Stephanie Odegard, and Deborah Berke.
Here I am in front of the HC&G sign showing all its social media handles and tags. Don’t forget to follow me too on Instagram @MarthaStewart48 and on Twitter @MarthaStewart.
I attended the event with several colleagues and friends, including my publicist, Susan Magrino, special events director, Heather Kirkland, and my makeup artist, Daisy Schwartzberg Toye.
The event was held at the Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club, an exclusive beach association popularly used for weddings, receptions and other parties. The club is surrounded by Mecox Bay, Sam’s Creek and the Atlantic Ocean. https://thebtsc.com
Bridgehampton is a hamlet in the South Fork of Suffolk County, New York. It is one of a string of seaside communities marked by long stretches of beach and an interior of historic farmland, towns and villages.
The venue was decorated in crisp white with delicate light colored summer blooms on each table.

Martha Stewart Wine Co. was one of the event sponsors. We served two wines including a 2015 Marquis de Bacalan Sauvignon Blanc – a sophisticated white with fruity and herbal flavors, and L’Arche Perlee Cremant de Bordeaux, Brut – a delicious sparkling white-gold wine from Bordeaux’s Sauternes subregion. https://marthastewartwine.com
Charlie Marder, owner of the well-known Bridgehampton landscaping and gardening business, Marders, and Kendell Cronstrom, HC&G Editor in Chief, joined me for a quick photo. (Photo by Richard Lewin for HC&G) http://www.marders.com
This is Alex Silva, who has been taking care of my East Hampton home, Lily Pond, for many years.
The waiters were busy pouring glass after glass of Martha Stewart Wines – the guests loved both our selections. For more information about the Martha Stewart Wine Co., please go to our web site, http://marthastewartwine.com.

More than 200-people attended the event – it was a most enjoyable evening for everyone. (Photo by Richard Lewin for HC&G)
Here I am with designer and architect, Campion Platt. We sat at the same table – table #4. http://www.campionplatt.com
At the center of each table was a two-tiered “lazy Susan” filled with small bites for everyone to enjoy. Flower arrangements were done by Lilee Fell Flowers in Bridgehampton. http://www.lileefellflowers.com

This Innovators award put me in great company – past Innovator Award recipients include Richard Meier, Madeline Weinrib, Vicente Wolf, Stephanie Odegard, and Deborah Berke.
Several slides were shown – this is a drone photo taken of my vegetable garden not too long ago – everything is doing so well this season.
And this is a photo of my pool at Lily Pond, surrounded by tropical container plants that are delivered there every spring from my home in Bedford.
After Charlie presented me with this wonderful award, I went up to accept it and to say a few words – it is a great honor. (Photo by Richard Lewin for HC&G)
