I Went To The Caramoor Opening Night Gala
This past June 22nd, I attended the gala for the 68th Summer Festival at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, right near my home in Katonah, New York. Caramoor is a 90-acre estate where Lucie and Walter Rosen built an Italianate-style villa and gardens to entertain their friends from around the world. In 1946, the Rosens opened their property as a performing arts center with a concert series that soon evolved into the Caramoor International Music Festival. The production that opening evening was a revival of the Broadway classic She Loves Me, written by composer/lyricist team, Joe Masteroff and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof). First staged on Broadway 50 years ago, this amusing romantic comedy is about two feuding colleagues who begin to realize that they have been friends as secret pen-pals all along. It was a delightful evening in a lovely venue.
