On my television show today, it’s The Man Show with legendary music producer, Clive Davis and an audience filled with handsome men. In preparation for this show, I traveled recently to Arlington, Texas for a very special private tour of the new Cowboys Stadium, where this year’s Super Bowl is about to take place. I had the great honor of being taken through this amazing architectural icon by Dallas Cowboys owners Jerry and Gene Jones. Since becoming the co-owner of the team, Jerry has led the Cowboys to twelve playoff appearances, eight division titles, four conference championship games, and three Super Bowl wins! In addition to building this impressive sports venue, Jerry and Gene are passionate about art and they showed me select pieces from the art collection commissioned exclusively for the stadium. I hope you enjoy this blog and hope you can also see today’s show on Hallmark Channel.
I took this photo of Cowboys Stadium as our plane approached the airport in Arlington, Texas.
Now approaching by car – This architectural icon is the largest column-free domed structure in the world, upon 104 acres.
Designed by the HKS Sports & Entertainment Group, this 3 million-square-foot stadium has an approximate capacity of up to 100,000 fans and is the largest NFL venue ever built.
There is a lot of hype surrounding the 45th Super Bowl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.
Chad Wagenheim, SVP Finance & Operations, Merchandising at MSLO is a huge football fan. He was happy to lend a hand to our camera crew.
Located in Main Concourse at the SW Entry is Olafur Eliasson’s – Moving Stars Takes Times (2008).
The Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor wraps around the stadium displaying former players, coaches, and club officials who made outstanding contributions to the team.
In franchise history, there are only 17 names and their respective numbers inscribed on the Ring of Honor.
Chad, Sam Koppelman, and Harrison Fritz – my guests for the day
Located in Main Concourse, NW Entry is Matthew Ritchie – Line Of Play (2009).
This work is made of powder-coated aluminum, vinyl, and acrylic paint.
There I am on the world’s largest HDTV video board. It features four individual boards – two facing the sidelines and two facing the end zones.
Mr. Jerry Jones – Owner and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys posing with Harrison and Sam
Jerry Jones offered his Superbowl ring to Sam, but only for a minute or two.
My camera crew was set up in a strategic location.
The expansive retractable roof is the largest of its kind in the world and measures approximately 660,800-square-feet. From directly above, the entire playing field can be seen.
Suddenly, the HDTV video board changed.
What a warm welcome!
Here I am having a pleasant chat with Jerry Jones wife, Gene.
We met with Mark Williams, Director of Business Development, HKS Sports and Entertainment Group and one of the principal architects on this stadium project.
Next, Mark allowed me to open the largest retractable end zone doors in the world!
Action!
Five 38-foot panels take 18-minutes to open or close.
Located in SW Monumental Staircase is Franz Ackermann – Coming Home (Meet Me) at the waterfall – 2009
I viewed the large art installations from many vantage points.
Ackermann’s pulsating shapes and jazzy color-combinations were exciting to see.
Special admission only!
This is the Miller Lite Club, where the players pass through on game day on their way to the field and also how we entered the field.
There I am again with Gene and Jerry!
I was met by Dallas Cheerleaders Meredith Oden and Allyson ‘Ally’ Traylor.
Next, I got to meet linebacker – Demarcus Ware #94, guard – Kyle Kosier #63, and fullback – Chris Gronkowski #44.
The goal of the game!
Hut, hut, hut!
Here I am ready to throw for a touchdown!
A happy Chad with Meredith and Ally
My group shot
My TV crew joined us for a shot.
Gary Nardilla, my director of photography, looks as buff as these guys.
