You may recall last June, when Cheryl DuLong, one of my housekeepers in Maine, sent me some of her photographs, which I shared on this blog. As I stated then, Cheryl loves hiking and photography and makes a habit of rising early to enjoy and to document nature. Her photos of Jordan Pond, taken last summer, were simply amazing. I have not been able to travel to Skylands in quite some time and knowing how much I like to see that area in all seasons, Cheryl sent these great photos that she took recently using her Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS. Enjoy!
During the long winter, we set out high-energy suet cakes for our little bird friends.
This is a white-breasted nuthatch.
The white-breasted nuthatch has an appetite for insects and large, meaty seeds. I hope the suet is satisfying enough.

So delicate and magical!
Such a fuzzy white coat – this looks like chenille.
