I always enjoy sharing photos from holiday gatherings.
Before major holiday weekends, I often send a general email to employees, extending my very best wishes for a safe and lovely time with family and friends. I also urge everyone to take photos of their feasts and decorations - I love seeing how others observe these special occasions and I am always excited to see the pictures and to read the many interesting stories that accompany them. This year, I received many wonderful photographs. My long Independence Day weekend was also very fun. I spent part of it with my daughter, Alexis, and her beautiful children, Jude and Truman. We enjoyed two lovely days in East Hampton, New York - playing at the beach and gathering for delicious meals with friends. The weather here in the Northeast was sunny, warm, and quite humid, but everyone had a splendid time.
Enjoy our photos.
It was a beautiful day at East Hampton Main Beach with my daughter, Alexis, and my grandchildren, Jude and Truman. Alexis makes sure everyone is well protected from the sun with umbrellas and sun-protective hoodies.
Both my grandchildren love the water and are excellent swimmers.
Here is Truman playing in the sand.
And Jude running along the beach. She is growing so fast.
In the evening, we went to Montauk Beach. Here are Jude and Truman walking on the rocks, with their mother watching nearby.
I love this photo of Truman as the sun sets.
My makeup artist, Daisy Schwartzberg Toye, and her husband, Eugene, met us for dinner at Duryea’s Lobster Deck in Montauk.
Here is another great photo of the children on the beach.
Jude loved playing with the scarf as it blew in the wind.
My precious grandchildren are so curious about everything. They love to explore all the time.
My driver, Rock, spent the weekend with his family in Maine. They stayed at my home, Skylands. During their stay, they hiked about 20-miles of carriage road through Acadia National Park. Rock said the hiking was great – it was about 69-degrees Fahrenheit and partly cloudy, but the breezes felt very good.
Rock and his son, Nicholas, stopped for a photo by the entrance to Jordan Pond.
Rock took this selfie with his wife, Marisol, and Nicholas. This is at Jordan Pond with the Bubbles behind them.
This photo was taken at the Eagle Lake carriage road bridge. Nicholas is 13-years old, and did just fine covering all those miles on the carriage roads!
Here are Rock and Nicholas on top of Cadillac Mountain. The Porcupine Islands can be seen behind them.
Rock and his family are on top of Cadillac Mountain. Oli’s Trolley, a tour trolley, is parked right behind them.
The family also visited Thunder Hole – a natural rock inlet where waves crash with high-flying foam when seas are up. On this day, the waters were pretty calm.
The seagull was hovering above and stopped to rest just as Rock and his family walked down the Thunder Hole steps.
Rock captured this photo of the moon right after photographing the seagull. What a stunning photo.
Cheryl Dulong, who works at Skylands, attended the Parade in Bar Harbor. This is The Anna Temple Shriners Flag Guard.
And the Friends of Acadia.
Here are some flags flying in Seal Harbor.
Cheryl stayed for the fireworks.
Fireworks are always so beautiful against the night sky, no matter where they are.
One of our executive administration interns, Samantha Frisoli, went to duBois Beach in Stonington, Connecticut – her family has a summer home there. What a beautiful sunset.
Here is another pretty photo off duBois Beach.

Claire Basile, associate designer of crafts, shares this photo of a pound cake her sister, Mary, made at the family barbecue in Mt. Vernon, New York. It looks very patriotic with the berries and whipped cream.
Claire also captured this photo of a neighborhood lawn covered with tons of small American flags and pinwheels. She said this family usually goes all out with lawn decor every holiday.
Here is our video creative director, Anduin Havens, with her fiancé, Cedric, his daughter Maina, and Anduin’s daughter, Harper. They are having a great time at New York’s Jones Beach.
Anduin and Harper posed for this photo – they also saw the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks this year.

Here is a closer shot Alexander. The family attended a baseball game between the New York Mets and Washington Nationals. Alexander is cheering for his team, the Mets.
At night, Krystle and her family watched the fireworks there.
On July 4th, Krystle and her family went to the American Museum and volunteered in opening the United States flag for the holiday ceremony.
All the volunteers sang the National Anthem at the museum.
The Flag ceremony was followed by a parade on Constitution Avenue with fireworks over the Washington Monument. Here is Paddington Bear.
And, a “LOVE” float
Here is the majestic Washington Monument.
Krystle’s entire family enjoyed the festivities.
And more beautiful fireworks in our nation’s capital.
Here is a spectacular photo of the bright colored fireworks.
Each one more amazing than the last.
Here is Zaki Kamandy, AVP design director, with his friend, Colin Chellman.

These are some of the beautiful buildings on the resort’s property.
During her visit, she made a pit stop with her boyfriend to Grafton Village Cheese in Brattleboro, Vermont. Grafton Village Cheese began as The Grafton Cooperative Cheese Co. in 1892. They sampled some of their award-winning Cheddar cheeses!

Kelly also captured this photo – the Sandy Neck Beach colony and light house.
Samantha Perlman, product manager for home textiles took some great photos too. She spent the weekend in upstate New York near Hunter Mountain at her fiancé, Chris’s family summer home. Here is a beautiful sunset.
And here’s another beautiful sunset.
This is the family house from behind a field of wildflowers.
When they weren’t grilling or hanging on the hammock, Samantha and her fiancé were off riding the trails – always wearing a helmet, of course.
They spotted a Giant Leopard Moth on the porch – there is so much wildlife upstate.
And they grilled all of their meals since the weather was so nice.
My new property director at my Bedford farm, Fred Jacobsen, spent his holiday at Martha’s Vineyard. Here he is with his daughters Ava and Grace, and his parents Lynn and Alfred Jacobsen.
