In just a few weeks, my longtime makeup artist, Daisy Schwartzberg Toye, and her husband, Eugene Toye, will welcome their first baby - a boy!
Earlier this week, I hosted a small baby shower at Kevin Sharkey's New York City apartment - it was the perfect venue for this celebratory gathering. We had about 20-guests, including Daisy's parents, in attendance. Kevin's home was decorated with lots and lots of big, festive blue and white balloons from Balloon Saloon, and all our appetizers came from several of our favorite New York City sources - Sullivan Street Bakery, Breads Bakery, Murray's Cheese, and of course, my friend, Chef Pierre Schaedelin of PS Tailored Events.
Everyone had a wonderful evening - we are all so happy for Daisy and Eugene. Enjoy these photos.
I love these “boy” cookies made by the chefs in our test kitchen – so fun and, of course, blue.
The evening was warm, but lovely. This is Kevin’s terrace – his apartment overlooks New York City’s Hudson River.
Many blue and white balloons filled the space. These balloons are in his living room. Most of them came from Balloon Saloon. http://www.balloonsaloon.com
There are wonderful views from every window.
And these balloons make such a fun and festive touch.
Above Kevin’s floating credenza decorated with blue and white straws and napkins is a metallic “baby” decoration on the mirror.
My daughter, Alexis, made a giant bowl of caramel corn – guests enjoyed it by the handfuls.
Lots of balloons were also above the dining room table.
Here is another great view from Kevin’s dining room – the Hudson River is on the left.
My friend, Chef Pierre Schaedelin, always makes such beautiful harvest produce crudites platters – all these vegetables are from the farmer’s market. http://pstailoredevents.com
Everyone loves cheese straws – these are from Breads Bakery. https://www.breadsbakery.com
Also from Breads Bakery – this colorful platter of tomatoes and cheese on toasted baguette slices.
This is salmon crostini from Breads Bakery – so savory and delicious.
This is Jim Lahey’s popular pizza bianca. Some of you may recall, Jim was on my television show to make it some years ago. http://www.marthastewart.com/915619/how-make-pizza-bianca
This is stracci from Jim Lahey’s Sullivan Street Bakery. Strecci is made from pizza bianca dough. The flat bread is soft and chewy with a thin crust coated with olive oil and lightly salted and topped with seasonal favorites, including tomatoes, artichokes, olives and garlic. It is usually sold in foot-long loaves, but we served them cut into pieces in a checkerboard pattern. http://www.sullivanstreetbakery.com
And here is a tasty cheese plate with pasteurized cheeses, dried fruits, nuts and fresh grapes.
This is a view looking down at all the mouth watering appetizers. Pierre also prepared a platter of quiches – leek, spinach feta and tomato. And we also enjoyed a platter of prosciutto from Murray’s Cheese.
Here is a great photo of Daisy and her husband, Eugene.
Here is another beautiful snapshot I took of Daisy standing by these giant balloons.
Daisy received many wonderful gifts from all the guests.
We all had such a nice time watching Daisy open all the beautiful baby items – who doesn’t love baby clothes and baby toys?
Here’s Eugene with one of his favorites.
Here is a giant basket filled with lots of stuffed animals and other fun items for the baby.
And a sweet photo of myself, Kevin, Daisy, Eugene, and the baby bump. We’re all so happy for you, Daisy and Eugene!! We can’t wait to meet your son!
