Are you hosting any holiday parties this year? Have you planned all the details for your special celebration?
Yesterday, I hosted a Facebook LIVE show featuring lots of ideas for planning a New Year's Eve party. I was joined by Darcy Miller Nussbaum who recently released a new book, “Celebrate Everything: Fun Ideas to Bring Your Parties to Life” - it is a complete guide to making all your special occasions personal and unforgettable.
We showed how to embellish champagne bottles and cupcakes, shared ideas for unique and fun party garlands, and talked about many of the events we’ve attended and hosted over the years. Plus, we answered lots of your entertaining questions. If you missed this Facebook LIVE, just click on this link - you can still catch it and all our other Facebook LIVE broadcasts on my @marthastewart Facebook page. Enjoy these photos.
Darcy Miller Nussbaum and I both enjoy entertaining, and have attended many of each other’s parties over the years – from birthdays and anniversaries to Weddings events, bat mitzvahs and more.
Darcy’s new book, “Celebrate Everything: Fun Ideas to Bring Your Parties to Life” is a great source for planning all your gatherings. There are hundreds of ideas and illustrations that will help make all your special occasions perfect.
For this Facebook LIVE, we showed a selection of party ideas for ringing in the New Year, but they can really be geared to planning any occasion. Here, we have a “bubbly bar” with lots of fun mix-ins to add to your glasses of champagne.
Specialty sugars and candies can be used to garnish champagne, wine or even sparkling water.
Bottles can be wrapped with the year on the front, or another fun party saying or sketch to make them more personal.
Place the bottles in cellophane bags and add lots of confetti – these make wonderful party favors.
The beauty of these Facebook LIVE broadcasts is that you can watch them again and again to get our ideas and how-to instructions. And, just like all our other Facebook LIVE shows, this one was shot on an iPhone – so easy.
If cupcakes are part of the celebration, add small messages or drawing cutouts – look how much more fun these cupcakes can be! We got these from Billy’s Bakery. http://www.billysbakery.com
Each drawing is affixed to a toothpick and just placed into each cupcake.
When Darcy launched her book, she made a Cupcake Kit—a celebratory collaboration with Meri Meri, a paper design store and source for high quality stationery, party supplies, cupcake and bake products. http://www.merimeri.com
For New Year’s Eve, each member of Darcy’s family writes down their resolutions for the new year – watch our show to find out what Darcy’s family does with those special resolutions to make a fun party game.
This year, I will be with my grandchildren, Jude and Truman, for New Year’s Eve – we’ll share our resolutions with each other using these great cards.
I hosted this special Facebook LIVE in one of our studios at our Starrett Lehigh executive offices. We decorated the space with lots of New Year’s Eve themed ideas. Themes help guide a party, but they don’t have to be complicated – even a child’s age can be the theme – just center everything around the special number. Follow Darcy @DarcyMiller to see great party photos.
These giant balloons are from Balloon and Event Construction. http://www.balloonandevents.com/
Balloons can come in different sizes and they can be filled with lots of confetti to make them even more special.
Jude and Truman are going to love these balloons!
Another idea is to create a personalized garland of photos. These are from Minted. http://www.minted.com
Minted connects you with independent artists to bring you fresh, unique art, stationery, and other decorations.
Everyone loves a piñata! And what a great addition to any party. Make it unique by filling with things other than candy. This piñata has some very interesting items inside – watch Facebook LIVE to find out what. This piñata is from Confetti System. http://confettisystem.com
Darcy’s book is filled with so many ideas – everything from baby showers to birthday parties, D.I.Y. craft projects and recipes, sources and tips, and Darcy’s own inspirations. Go to her web site to learn more. http://www.darcymillerdesigns.com/bookshop/celebrate-everything/
This book would make a great present for anyone on your list. https://www.amazon.com/Celebrate-Everything-Ideas-Bring-Parties/dp/0062388754
